I’ve painted lots of turkeys, but never a pair of fighting longbeards until this one. When we think of turkeys, they’re typically strutting, gobbling, or maybe flying. But as an artist, I look for action and dynamic movement in my work – things that can hold a viewer’s interest and move their eye around a composition. I had this concept in my mind for a long time before I finally created it. Later it was featured on a box of Winchester Ammunition’s first ever TSS turkey load.
