A Guide to Ryan Kirby’s Art

Purchasing art can be overwhelming. This guide is designed to help you make an informed decision as you choose the piece that best represents your lifestyle and passion.

Original Oil Paintings

Ryan’s original oil paintings range in size from 8” x 10” to 36” x 48” and are painted on board or linen canvas with professional-grade oil paint and sealed with a quality varnish. These items are one of a kind; that's why they're called "originals." Every brush stroke, from the initial block-in to the last stroke of Ryan’s signature, is carefully executed by hand. We occasionally turn an original into a print if there's demand, but you can rest assured there will never be another oil of the same kind. The finish, texture and brushwork is something that can never be duplicated.

Ryan’s originals make great statement pieces in your home, office or hunting lodge. Each original is framed and carefully packaged for delivery. If possible, Ryan prefers to deliver the originals in person.

Canvas Prints

Canvas prints – also known as canvas giclees – are reproductions of original oil paintings. Most are 18” x 24”. Canvas prints are signed and numbered in an edition of 250.

Reproduction begins by digitally color correcting and proofing a high-resolution photo of the original oil painting. The color profile is then saved to ensure consistency across all canvas prints. The resulting reproduction is then heat transferred to foam board to ensure easy framing and prevent sagging over time.

We offer quality framing so your canvas print arrives ready to hang.

Paper Prints

Paper prints follow a similar production process to canvas prints but are instead printed on heavy archival paper. The weight is similar to what you expect from heavy weight card stock. We also offer a few original oil paintings reproduced on bright white, gloss paper with a smooth finish. These come signed and numbered.

Our most popular line of paper prints – like “The Growth & Maturity of the White-tailed Buck” – comes on a natural colored paper with a textured finish. They are 30” x 20”. We carefully inspect each print for quality, then Ryan signs and stamps them with his seal of authenticity before they leave the studio. Purchase your print unframed, with two-stick framing, or with traditional framing under plexiglass.

Posters

Our posters have the same quality printing process as our paper prints but are scaled down and produced on lighter weight, glossy paper, just like you would expect from a traditional poster. Often the information and number of sketches included in these is scaled to fit their smaller size and scope. They’re great add-ons to other items in your cart and make great gifts on a budget. Posters are unsigned and unframed.

Editions

Original oils are signed and are one of a kind. Canvas prints are signed and numbered in a Limited Edition of 250 prints.. Artist’s Proof Edition paper prints are limited to less than 100 prints and are signed and numbered. Open Edition paper prints – like “The Growth and Maturity of the White-tailed Buck” – are signed and stamped with Ryan’s Seal of Authenticity. Posters are not signed or numbered.
