Description
For me, the best time to paint turkeys is when I'm also hunting them, and this piece was painted right in the heart of the spring season after an early trip to Florida. The scene that inspired this piece is just off of a power line in a stand of pines. This longbeard has just flown down for the morning's ritual, but something else has piqued his interest and that of his hens. As he steps up on a log for a better view (and to give this new hen a better view of himself), he can't resist announcing his presence in the morning sunlight.
