Description

The opening day of dove season is special. It’s a much anticipated Labor Day weekend tradition that marks the beginning of fall, and with it the beginning of another hunting season (note the dove hunter in his blind in the middle background). I wanted a large mourning dove scene to bring to SEWE the year I was their featured artist, so I came up with this composition of five mourning doves flying over a sunflower field. In fact, this was a second option for the featured painting and was used in many of their marketing materials and day passes. From the first brushstroke to the final varnish, I'm happy with how this painting turned out. It's always been one of my favorites.

Unframed canvas prints will be rolled up and shipped in our custom shipping triangles. Your local frame shop can handle the stretching and framing of your choice. Our gallery wrapped and framed options will arrive ready to hang on the wall with hanging hardware pre-installed.
