Description
I've used this late afternoon color palette in several mourning dove paintings and love working with it. This particular painting was started on the set of a Hoyt video shoot. I needed to have a whitetail painting in progress in the easel so they could film b-roll for the storyline. After the video crew left, I sat on the idea for several days, trying to figure out how I wanted to paint the sky and background. I finally settled on a distant full moon and a trio of doves. The piece looked so much like a scene from Texas or Oklahoma I decided to call it "God Blessed Texas."
