Description
One beautiful spring morning the week before opening day, I went out to listen for gobbles at one of my go-to spots close to the house. As I was driving back to the studio for work, I passed an old two-track dirt road lined with dogwoods on our neighbor's property. The sun was just coming up and hitting the dogwoods perfectly. In my head I imagined a strutter following his hens up this road, just like they often do fresh off the roost. I parked my truck, walked up and down the road, and snapped a few pics with my cell phone to document the scenery. Once back in the studio, I added the birds and moved somethings around, then set out to bring it to life on canvas.
