There's something really fun about painting fall foliage in its peak. Here in Boone, NC where my studio is, folks travel from hundreds of miles away to visit in mid-October, hoping to time it just right to when the maples and hardwoods are in their prime. In "Boys of Fall" I used the clear blue sky as a compliment to the bright orange leaves, giving these two mallard drakes a colorful background from which they can stand apart.
