Description
This scene was taken from a creek bottom on my parent's farm in Illinois. I've seen many deer cross right here and flushed countless wood ducks off of it walking to and from a deer stand or chasing gobbling spring turkeys. This white-tailed buck is following two alert does as they make their way across the creek. In the distance, two drake wood ducks can't take off from the water, sending their whistling echoing through the hardwoods.
This painting was selected as the 2013 Quality Deer Management Association's Print of the Year.
